today...

Published on 3.31.2010 in ,

...is my 27th birthday.

I love birthdays.  I love birthdays so much that I actually called the mother of one of my friends on her birthday (even though I've never met her), just because I think birthdays are just that important.

So far, mine has started by Mini #2 sleeping for 7 straight hours...

...waking up at 7 a.m. to take Engineering Man to work...

...and a blender, camera case, and spa treatments as gifts.

So far, so good. We'll see how the rest of it goes.

In light of the glorious day...I've leave you with one of my favorites:  "Water Lilies" by Claude Monet.

Exploration Place has a tornado machine.

Mini #1 and Niece #1 decided to go in it.

The following is what they looked like as the machine ran.

Monday's weekend in review...

Published on 3.22.2010 in , , , , ,

The week was spent as Captain Underpants...

...and writing on our arms...

...and the library had story time on Tuesday and a puppet show on St. Patrick's Day.

Thursday was gorgeous...so we hit the park...

Friday was just as wonderful, until the wind changed, and we started heading north.

This weekend Engineering Man had drill, so off the boys and I went to the grandparents.

On the road, in 1 hour, the temperature dropped from 46 degrees Fahrenheit to 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Awesome.

Basically, we went from this...

...to this...

The weekend also included meeting more Great Grandparents (forgot my camera, ugh)...

...celebrating the nephew's birthday a little early...

...with a ferocious dinosaur, that DIDN'T have sharp teeth...

...painting with paint pens...

...on our tummies...

...and trying to catch up on sleep...

You have no idea how happy I am that I don't have to be at work today.

Friday's Favorite...Sally Hansen's french tip kit

Published on 3.19.2010 in

During the summer I love to have cute looking toes.

And for some reason, I've always liked french tip toenails.

Last year, I found this at my local Wal-Mart.
(Have I mentioned how much I love Wal-Mart?)

Anyway, the set comes with a french tip manicure "pen".

The pen has a tip like this...

...that glides on smoothly.  Sometimes you have to do more than one coat, but it's definitely easier than making sure a normal nail polish brush actually follows a straight line.

It's been a great investment and makes it easy for me to whip out a cute manicure in no time.

*Sally Hansen hasn't paid me to write this.  I just like the product.  But, if they want to pay me, I'd be happy to take the cash.

"Maybe...

Green and spring

Published on 3.17.2010 in ,

Today is my favorite holiday.

Maybe it's because my favorite color is green...

...or it seems to herald the beginning of spring...

...or maybe it's just because it's another day to celebrate with alcohol.

Nope, it's because my birthday is in 14 days.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

monday's week in review...

Published on 3.15.2010 in , , , ,

Now that I'm on maternity leave, it seems I'm getting to do more fun stuff than I normally do.  Thus, my "weekends" in review have now become "weeks" in review.

So, this week included baking a cake...

...for a friend's 25th birthday party...

...cooking wings with a recipe from this fabulous person...

...supper from friends that are fabulous...

...catching up on sleep...

...coffee, to help catch up on sleep...

...a child sleeping during the day and staying awake at night...

...the beginning of March Madness (Rock Chalk)...

...talking to family...

...bathing in the baby bathtub...

...messing with my camera...

...and trying not to get pissy with the announcers during the Big XII Championship (seriously, it's Aldrich not Adler).

Friday's Favorites...boob pads

Published on 3.12.2010 in , ,

Men, avert your eyes.  It's about to get interesting.

In keeping with the theme of boobs and leakage, I've decided to offer one of my nursing favorites for this Friday.

Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads

These things are amazing.  They're like mini diapers for your nipples.  Ultra thin, so they don't show up like giant nipples under your shirts, and they wick moisture away from your body so you don't chafe.

Yes boys, if you're still here, nipples can chafe.  Hurts like heck.

They come in individually wrapped packages, so you can throw them in your diaper bag and never worry about them getting wet.

They're also are slightly contoured so it's not like trying to get a flat piece of material to wrap around a spherical object.

More expensive than the Gerber brand, but well worth the money.  I've actually washed these before and they come out all fluffy and full, but never break open.  The inside of them is similar to what's inside a diaper, so it doesn't leak out unless you are REALLY leaking (and probably not feeding your child).

Fabulous!

**Lansinoh has not paid me for this.  I just like these.  Stupid FCC rules.**
