Published on 3.31.2011 in

We interrupt these Thursday Things for a reminder to Engineering Man...

Sweetheart...today is my birthday...

Thank you.

FYI...last year it was noon before he remembered to tell me Happy Birthday...

Best part about it...he already had my present and had remembered all week...he just forgot that day...

Love you hon.

OH, and as a personal reminder...t minus two years to finish the 30 before 30...

UPDATE:  Not only did I get a text message at 5 a.m., but I also got a phone call at 7:30 a.m.  Thank you so much sweetheart!

Wednesday Words of Wisdom...

Published on 3.30.2011 in ,

If you ever find yourself having to attend a formal military function where generals, colonels and other brass are in attendance, wear black.

You blend in.

Yes, I know this from experience.

No, I was not the one in the hot pink slinky skin tight dress.

Thankyouverymuch.

Monday's week in review...

Published on 3.28.2011 in , , , , , , ,

Sorry to get this posted late.  I finally returned to my semi-permenant home last night around 5:30 p.m.

That is after traveling through six states in two weeks.

I am very ready to be stable again.

So...this past week we hit our fourth of six states to see the brother and sister-in-law.

When we got there, everyone else was sleeping so we flew a kite...

Friday's Favorites... L.O.V.E.

Published on 3.25.2011 in , , ,

This past Friday, my Daily Devotion was amazing.

It was titled, "Before You Tie the Knot..." and went through the idea that before marrying you have to
 EVALUATE
the decision.

EVALUATE in this instance meant:
Enjoy
Values
Accessibility
Love
Understanding
Appreciation
Temperment
Environment

(the full daily devotion is written below for details...)

Granted, I thought this was a great idea; but the writer further defined the word LOVE.
The definition finally put into words what I had been trying to tell some of my single friends about LOVE for years...

LOVE...Listens to your partner's opinions and concerns, Overlooks their faults and failings, Values them, and Expresses itself through kindness.

So, if you're getting married, the next time you say that you LOVE your significant other, truly think about that word and what it means for the two of you.

I on the other hand am going to use it as a reminder of why I decided to go through with this whole crazy thing called marriage...

LOVE you Engineering Man!

Before You Tie the Knot!
Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?
Amos 3:3
Sam and Hilda had been married for 50 years, yet they still fought continuously. One day Hilda said, "Sam, I have got the answer! Let's ask God to take one of us home - then I can go live with my sister!" Just because you are both Christians does not guarantee harmony. Here are some practical areas you need to E-V-A-L-U-A-T-E: Enjoy. Do you enjoy the same things? Maybe it is no big deal now, but later when he is glued to the television and you want a little conversation - it will be! Values. The Bible asks: "Can two people walk together without agreeing" Are you able to agree on child raising, finances, in-laws, goals, and your relationship with God? Those are make or break issues! Accessibility. Are you both emotionally accessible, or is he the strong silent type who does not communicate - or understand your need to? Love. Do you really love each other? Not the Hollywood version, but the kind that: listens to your partner's opinions and concerns, Overlooks their faults and failings, Values them, Expresses itself through kindness, Understanding. You will not agree on everything, but can you understand and handle each other's point of view? Appreciation. Dave McIntye says, "Appreciation is like an insurance policy, it has to be renewed every now and then." Do you make a habit of expressing yours? Temperament. Are your personalities compatible? If you are naturally upbeat but they are moody and introverted, you may have an oil and water mix. Environment. If you are from different backgrounds, are you comfortable in the same spiritual and social settings? Before you tie the knot - think carefully about these things!

Niece #2 is the ultimate girly girl.

The ULTIMATE.

After showing off her newest pretties she looked at my sister and said...

"Mommy, Jesus don't want me to be ugly."
