Friday's Favorites...my hubby

Published on in , , ,

OK, so I know this is going to be mushy and romantic and...blah, blah, blah...

BUT...I really don't care. :) I have to brag.

Last Friday and Saturday was the ultimate event of my job. Basically, it means I spend 26 hours in Koch Arena from 8 a.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday. Awesome, huh?

Besides that, it just so happens that Mini #1's birthday also fell on this past weekend.

So, when I got home from Koch on Saturday evening I was exhausted, both mentally and physically and did not want to even think about doing anything at the house.

...and I didn't have to.

As I walked in the house, I discovered that Engineering Man had done the laundry, cleaned the sheets, picked up the house, dusted, swept, vacuumed, cleaned the bathrooms, done the dishes, mopped the floors and given the boys baths.

Seriously, he's fabulous.

And...just as a side note, today is our 5th anniversary.

:)

Mini #1's birthday party

Published on 5.18.2010 in , ,

I booked a trip to a local county fire station for Mini #1's birthday.

Not until we got there did I understand how amazing it would be.

The firemen first made us feel right at home...

...and then made the station interesting...

...they kept the kids entertained even through a safety movie...

...showed us the gear they have to wear...

...danced a little jig...

...and helped the kids to feel comfortable with the "crazy" monster...

...they gave us rides in the fire truck...

...showed us each truck...

...had them try on helmets...

...that were a little too big...

...let us crawl all over and around the trucks...

...let them use the spray hose...

...and showed us an overall great time...

..even Mini #2 got in on the action...

It was one of the sweetest things anyone had ever had the boys do for me...

Thursday Things I Never Thought I'd Hear...

Published on 5.13.2010 in , ,

Mini #2 was crying because he was hungry.

I picked him up and sarcastically asked Mini #1 if he wanted to feed him.

"I can't feed him. I don't have boobs. I have nipples."

An inked momma...

Published on 5.11.2010 in , , ,

I've always wanted a tattoo.

Something about putting a permanent mark on your body to tell the world a little about yourself always intrigued me.

For years I thought about what I wanted. YEARS.

Finally, as a freshman in college, I decided it was time.

Called the parental units.

"Hey mom. I'm going to get a tattoo."

"Really?"

"Yea."

And that was the end of our conversation. And I went with my cousin to go get it.

"Hey mom. Got my tattoo."

"You did WHAT?"

"Got my tattoo. I know I told you I was going to get one."

"I know; I just thought you were kidding."

Oops.

Needless to say, it was already done, and there wasn't any turning back. I was also hooked.

I now have two tattoos, but have been inked three times.

My first tattoo is of a barbed wire heart. Barbed wire because I'm a country girl through and through (and have about 3 scars from working with barbed wire), and a heart because truthfully I'm a hopeless romantic.

My initial tattoo expanded after I married Engineering Man.

I added ivy in the form of his initials and a flower within my initial tattoo the color of my birth month. All of this symbolizes EM making my heart grow and bloom because of our love.

Cheesy, I know, but it feels that way.

Usually. :)

My last tattoo I got last year. It's two sets of footprints "walking" across my own foot.

(Please ignore the swollen feet. Was 9 months pregnant when I took this picture.)

It's for Mini #1 and Mini #2. Reminding me that there is always someone walking in my footsteps; helping me to remember that I need to be a good role model.

Hasn't always worked...but at least I've got a reminder.

What about you? Have any tattoos? Always wanted one, but never got one? Any ideas for my next one? 'Cause you know I'm going to get another...
