Friday's Favorites...Chef Point Cafe...

Published on 4.27.2012 in

When the family and friends were here this week, we wanted to try a new restaurant.  Needless to say, our taste buds are usually decided by something fabulous like Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the Food Network.

Guy featured this restaurant...Chef Point Cafe...on the show a while back, so since then it's slowly expanded into the awesomeness it is now, but wow, it was delicious.
The appetizers and beer were fantastic.  We tried the stuffed mushrooms, the italian nachos, the duck and the cheese fries.  All amazing.  No. 9 on the beer menu, oh and the Alaskan white were fabulous.

For entrees we tried a seafood pasta, the chicken fried steak, the duck, crab cakes and lamb chops.  All were delicious.

The meal was only highlighted by the amazing before seating services.  We had 4 kids under 6 with us and even though we waited 30 minutes to be seated, they were given coloring books, asked if we wanted to order early for them so they would have food when we were seated, and made to feel welcome and not an intrusion.

The only unfortunate part was our service during dinner.  I have a feeling our waitress had no idea how to deal with a large table.  She seemed a little disorganized and slightly crazed.  She forgot some sides and gave us the wrong tickets.  She went to get second drink orders before taking our meal orders.  She input our table's order before even asking for my parents order (who were with us, but at a different table).

Still, the food, drinks and company made light of the waitress and had a great time.  Since it's only 10 minutes from the house, I have a feeling we'll be back!

Thursday Things I Never Thought I'd See...

Published on 4.26.2012 in ,

Out of our friends that came down to run the Warrior Dash, only these three were guys.

They decided to hit up Walmart and make their own outfits for the run.

They couldn't find adult camo, so these shirts are "fixed" boys' XL shirts...

They woke me up to take a picture...

Needless to say, these are a few of the 20+ pictures I took prior to getting that shot...

30 Before 30... #8

Published on 4.25.2012 in

DSC_1025 This past weekend, six of our friends and my sister came into town to help me out with number...

8. Run an actual race. (Seriously, if you knew how much I hate running, you would be shocked by this one.)

on my 30 Before 30 list...

Last fall, my sister called and talked me into signing up for the Warrior Dash. Since it was only 15 minutes from the house, I thought it was a great opportunity to get my friends all down to hang out together.

I can't say I loved every minute of it, but I did enjoy the fact that I actually ran (yes, I RAN the entire time) 3.25 miles and finished 13 obstacles in just a little over 41 minutes.  (41.04 to be exact).

I finished 141st in my age group and 1,041 overall (out of over 6,500).

Thanks to all my friends that helped make it possible to enjoy a weekend when I beat my body to crap, and for getting me excited to work out again!

DIY of the week...Keeping it Clean...

Published on 4.24.2012 in ,

The door between the garage and the house has been white.

Needless to say, it doesn't stay white very long...

So, I took what paint I had left from the kitchen makeover and used it to freshen up the back door.

Now, truth time...do I need to paint the trim too?

Friday's Favorites...the perfect shot

Published on 4.20.2012 in ,

Mini #2 is one of those people who does NOT like to be woken up.

Or, well, really to wake up period.

Who can blame him??

Needless to say, he fell asleep on our way to take pictures this past weekend.

We left him in the car (Engineering Man stayed with him) and I started taking pictures of the other kids.

When he woke up, EM brought him to us, and put him on a rock.

This is the very first shot I took of him...

Priceless...

Thursday Things I Never Thought I'd Hear...

Published on 4.19.2012 in ,

We were talking to friends of ours in church one Sunday...

...you know the friends...these cuties...

Anyway, he told us his mom had tried to print some of the pictures I had taken for them at Wal-Mart.  Wal-Mart had called and told her they weren't going to print them without having her sign a copyright form.

Engineering Man looked at me and said, "Well, I guess you have Wal-Mart's stamp of approval!"

I'm still trying to decide if that's a good or bad thing...
