Thursday Things that Make Me Sad...

Monday was Mini #1's first day of Kindergarten.

New school, new lunch routine, new pickup routine...everything.

As I was getting ready to leave his classroom, I gave him a hug and said, "Okay, remember, Sebastian is going to come pick you up and take you..."

"MOM! I...KNOW..."

When did he grow up so fast??

This week I want to highlight Engineering Man...

This is what he came from...

And this is where he was last Monday...

He's lost more than 20 pounds in the last 9 weeks.

AND...this is what I'm most proud of...he's done it after recently quitting smoking!!

I'm so proud of him.

Props, babe!!!

Week in Review...

I'm sensing a trend. I'm not picking up my camera as often as I would like to. I need to fix that this week...

Last week started with date night with Engineering Man and friends...

...a trip to the bounce house...

...an evening with neighbors; you know, the ones with the awesome sense of humor...

...the evening included ice cream cake...

...and creativity while playing cards...

...it also included window shopping at Target...

...and an awesome deal for shoes at Famous Footwear...

Deal of the day... $90 shoes for $16.45. :)

...it ended with a gorgeous photo shoot...

...and this mini meeting his Kindergarten teacher...

The Mini's started school today...well, wait, it's after midnight, so yesterday...and I started working at the church a couple days a week.

I'm exhausted...

Thursday Things I Never Thought I'd Hear...

Engineering Man, a friend and a neighbor were working on an issue. A sucky issue.

We recently brought back a boat to the house that had a foldaway tongue. The tongue wasn't working so the boat and trailer wouldn't fit in the garage. In other words...we couldn't shut our garage door.

So, with multiple tools, including a sawsall, we were trying to get a bolt out so we could actually get the tongue off and shut the door.

It was exhausting, grueling and I was so done.

My neighbor piped up...

"You know, if you flooded your garage you wouldn't have this issue..."

DIY of the week...drain spouts...

We have these around our house.

They're useful, but not exactly very pretty.

***And thanks to a very HELPFUl friend in construction I know they are officially named splash blocks. And the one in this picture is backward. Which means every splash block around our house is backward. Maybe it's just a trend in our house...***

And unfortunately, they didn't do a good job of holding back the water in a few spots by our sidewalk.

When we picked up Mini #1's swing set, they had rocks under it. They told us to take them and they've been sitting in our garage since.

I decided to put them to use under this drain spout...
