Thursday Things I Giggle At...

Published on 6.30.2011 in , , ,

Engineering Man, the minis and I went to do some outprocessing.

The guy helping us was bald.

Mini #1 leaned down and whispered in EM's ear...

"Daddy...why does that man not have any hair on his head?"

today...

Published on 5.03.2011 in ,

I know I promised house pictures, but a series of events...

...getting home at 9 pm last night...
...a cranky baby...
...exhaustion...
...and Mini #1's first official school field trip (yea!)...

...all mean I failed in getting the pictures together to be posted.

Instead I wanted to share a verse that finally summed up yesterday for me very well...

"Do not rejoice when your enemy falls; do not be happy when they stumble. For the Lord will be displeased with you and will turn his anger from them." Proverbs 24:17-18

No...I do not believe what Osama has done in the past is right, nor do I disapprove of how our military handled the situation (hello...military wife!), and I definitely sympathize with anyone who has lost a loved one because of this war...

...But that's just it; someone lost a father/brother/son/husband this past weekend. He was still human...

MLK says it best...

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." -Martin Luther King Jr.

Thursday Things I Never Thought I'd Hear...

Published on 3.17.2011 in ,

We were sitting at breakfast with some of Engineering Man's military buddies.

Mini #1 was showing off his light up shoes and glow in the dark shirt.

One of Engineering Man's friends said, "Man, if our boots lit up we wouldn't get lost during night land navigation."

Inside one of those funky MRE's...

Published on 3.01.2011 in

Engineering Man was "field dressing" his MRE (Meal Ready to Eat) to pack his TA-50.

If you've never noticed...the military has a TON of acronyms.

Including Alpha Mic Foxtrot....watch A-Team.  You'll love it.

Anyway, he tore apart the MRE and I started to take pictures.

It included a PR piece...

...a hot water bag...

...a "warmer"...

...sloppy joe mix...

...crackers...

...cheese...

...brownies...

..."Gatorade"...

..."trail mix"...

...and condiments...

Now that's what I call a meal...

Thursday Things I Never Thought I'd Hear...

Published on 7.15.2010 in , , , ,

Engineering Man's father and brother have been deployed to Egypt on a 12-month tour of duty for the National Guard.

Tuesday, we went to see Grandpa B as he returned to Kansas.

Mini #1 was STOKED. The entire drive up he kept saying over and over..."I WANT GRANDPA."
Even eating breakfast with Grandma J wasn't enough. He wanted Grandpa.

Upon arrival to the Welcome Home Ceremony in Topeka, and being told that this is where we would finally get to see Grandpa, Mini #1 turned to Engineering Man and asked...

"Is this Egypt?"

If only it was that easy...
